In parliament on Wednesday (Mar 5), MP Saktiandi Supaat called on the Ministry of Transport to share how it will take Singapore’s public transport forward. How will transport infrastructure be enhanced with new technology and autonomous vehicles? Is the construction of the North-South Corridor on track? What about food delivery using unmanned drones? Separately, he also stressed the need for rail reliability, additional funding for enhanced maintenance and the financial balance to manage fare adjustments. He suggested that greater transparency on revenue and cost could help foster public understanding of the complexity of balancing rail expenditure and reliability. He also asked the ministry to take proactive measures to develop a future-ready skilled workforce to sustain a resilient rail system.
