Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 4: Yeo Wan Ling on improving public transport work experience

01:24 Min

It is no mean feat being a bus captain. The job requires resilience, patience, multitasking and a steely-eyed focus at all times, said MP Yeo Wan Ling in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 5). She noted that bus captains had given feedback that protected uninterrupted meal breaks, reasonable runtime lengths, improved technology to enhance safety, refresher programmes and stronger legislative measures against rude, violent acts needed to be looked into. She also asked what more can be done to further improve the working conditions of bus captains and transport workers, given a growing bus network and higher service expectations demanded of bus captains.
