Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 5: Gerald Giam on participation in school sports
Schools should open up more recreational sport co-curricular activities (CCAs) for popular sports and adjust the number of CCA places to match demand. This will ensure that every student who wants to participate in sports at their skills level has the opportunity to do so. At the other end of the spectrum, top-performing student athletes should have the option to be excused from school training so they can focus on training to become world-class athletes who can represent Singapore and even win medals on the world stage. MP Gerald Giam said this in parliament on Thursday (Mar 6).
