Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 5: Sharael Taha on extending employability of senior workers

Have the government’s policies on senior employment, such as the Senior Employment Credit, job redesign and flexible work arrangements made an impact on senior employment? Are seniors starting to get employed in better redesigned jobs that leverage on their strengths and experience? Has job redesign provided more and enough opportunities for senior workers? MP Sharael Taha raised these questions in parliament on Thursday (May 6). He noted that while the government is ensuring that the workforce is prepared for a longer retirement adequacy, workers must also plan for their extended career longevity by taking responsibility for their career and skills upgrading. He asked how the government can help workers plan for upskilling to enhance their employability and extend their career longevity.
