Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 5: Yeo Wan Ling on collective workplace safety and health performance

01:23 Min

As an ageing society, workplaces must be more inclusive and accommodative to the physical needs of a more senior staff base. In addition, more attention and conversations can be situated around lifecycle changes such as menopause. Mental wellness is also an increasingly important workplace safety and health performance indicator, with around one in seven people in Singapore experiencing a mental disorder in their lifetime. MP Yeo Wan Ling made these observations in parliament on Thursday (Mar 6). She noted that some workplaces have mental well-being champions, but more can be done to enhance the training and expertise of such champions. She wanted to know how the Ministry of Manpower will continue to support employers, especially less-resourced small- and medium-sized enterprises in the collective efforts to build a strong safety and wellness culture in corporate Singapore.
