Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Ang Wei Neng on integrating TCM into Singapore’s healthcare system

06:19 Min

"Bold steps" are needed to integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) more effectively into Singapore’s healthcare system, said MP Ang Wei Neng, and this will require building a strong pipeline of physicians. Mr Ang suggested certifying experienced practitioners and drawing them into Healthier SG - a recognition that could pave the way for employers to accept MCs issued by them. To raise standards overall, the TCM Practitioners Board could require physicians to treat a minimum number of patients monthly and attend periodic refresher courses, he added. In parliament on Friday (Mar 7), Mr Ang also spoke about regulating the psychology profession, improving access to timely and quality dental care and the need for stronger measures against vaping. *Audio issues inherent from source
