Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Gerald Giam on digital inclusion and public opinion surveys
Digitalisation must bring greater inclusion, not create new barriers, said MP Gerald Giam in parliament on Friday (Mar 7). He suggested that individual government agencies take greater responsibility for guiding users through their own systems beyond relying on ServiceSG Centres. He also wanted to know the effectiveness of the Seniors Go Digital programme. Separately, Mr Giam wanted to know if public doorstop opinion surveys are being conducted to shape public policy or to gauge public sentiment for electoral purposes. He said there is a risk that such surveys will be seen as serving partisan interests.
