A critical factor in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities is the development of a strong talent pool and competition in this area is intensifying across the world, said MP Jessica Tan. She asked how the government is ensuring that Singapore can attract and retain top AI talent. The shortage of skilled AI professionals is also a significant challenge in the adoption of AI by businesses, she said. She wanted to know how the government is creating “an enabling environment” to support businesses in actively embracing AI solutions to enhance competitiveness and drive growth. In parliament on Friday (Mar 7), Ms Tan also noted that businesses must ensure they use AI responsibly, to build and maintain public trust.
