08:13 Min

In the face of rising health costs, MP Lim Wee Kiak asked in parliament on Friday (Mar 7) what the medical inflation rate is, and what can be done to slow it down and lower out-of-pocket expenses for Singaporeans. He asked if the MediSave, MediShield and MediFund system will be reviewed and further enhanced. On smart healthcare, he asked how and where the government will apply technology and especially artificial intelligence (AI), and if there is a need to relook the legal responsibility of medical professionals in its application. He also suggested that the emerging fields of regenerative medicine and healthy longevity could be opportunities for Singapore in medical tourism.
