Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Ng Ling Ling on health support for ComCare recipients
In parliament on Friday (Mar 7), MP Ng Ling Ling said that while visiting constituents who receive ComCare assistance, she has seen them eating “mostly” instant noodles and highly processed canned food. She asked if the Ministry of Social and Family Development could work with the Ministry of Health to enable healthier food for lower-income Singaporeans on ComCare. She also suggested that the ministries collaborate on preventive measures to keep this vulnerable group from developing serious chronic diseases that would worsen their “downward spiral” and burden the healthcare system.
