Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Ng Ling Ling on Matched Retirement Savings Scheme for people with disabilities

01:18 Min

From January 2026, the government will expand the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme to include eligible Singaporeans with disabilities, regardless of their age. Describing this as “a very good scheme”, MP Ng Ling Ling asked if the definition of disabilities includes mental illnesses and why it will take almost a year for the scheme to be implemented. She also wanted to know the difference in rationale and impact compared to services provided by the Special Needs Trust Company, which is supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Ms Ng spoke in parliament on Friday (Mar 7).
