Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Tan Kiat How on riding the next wave of AI growth
The government will do more to help enterprises and workers ride the next wave of digitalisation, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), said Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How. Recognising that enterprises face different challenges in adopting generative AI, it is launching a "playbook" for them, catering to different stages of digital maturity. Other measures include updating the Industry Digital Plans to include sector-specific AI tools and training. This will be extended to the food services and hotel sectors this year. Under the National AI Strategy 2.0, more than two dozen AI Centres of Excellence were set up last year to push the frontiers of AI innovation and use. Mr Tan added that more organisations are using AI for the public good. He gave the example of an AI-enabled detection system at Changi Airport to help keep the runways free of foreign objects. He was speaking in parliament on Friday (Mar 7).
