01:54 Min

The government is considering the lower end of the planned carbon tax range for 2030, citing weaker global climate momentum and there is still time before deciding, said MP He Ting Ru. Speaking in parliament on Thursday (Feb 26), she wanted to know how the government would ensure that there is enough pressure on large emitters to decarbonise and evaluate its impact and progress on decarbonisation. She also asked if big tech firms are outcompeting smaller users like small- and medium-sized enterprises and households for cheaper renewable electricity.
