Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 1: Yeo Wan Ling on improving government transacting experience for businesses
If the government wants businesses, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises, to work well with them, their experience on government e-procurement portal GeBIZ must be efficient, transparent and fair. MP Yeo Wan Ling said this in parliament on Thursday (Feb 26), where she proposed that GeBIZ be refreshed to streamline documentation, reduce repetitive submissions and make procurement more user-friendly. She called for the Ministry of Finance to trial AI tools to strengthen procurement, finance, audit and administration. She also asked for an update on the expansion of the Tender Lite for ICT contracts.
