The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has recognised that repeat drug abusers face significant barriers - the lack of social networks due to being in and out of the system, and difficulty maintaining employment. Yet what remains insufficiently examined is the mental health dimensions underlying these challenges, said MP Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Feb 27), he wanted to know if MHA plans to collect data on the mental health status of individuals arrested for drug-related offences and if the data will be made available to researchers or policymakers.
