Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Hazlina Abdul Halim on strengthening appreciation for foreign policy at home
Foreign policy can feel abstract, but its impact can be deeply personal, said MP Hazlina Abdul Halim. She said Singapore must ensure that its diplomacy and its people are ready for that reality. This means strengthening Singaporeans’ understanding of foreign policy principles so there is sustained domestic support for the country’s stand in complex and polarising situations; also, ramping up efforts to expose students to different cultures, languages and religions to build their global understanding and exposure. Ms Hazlina spoke in parliament on Friday (Feb 27).
