Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Lee Hong Chuang on Singapore in relation to ASEAN and EU

04:14 Min

Many Singapore entrepreneurs hope to expand their businesses overseas, but they worry about being unfamiliar with a foreign country and do not know where to start. Moreover, the current international situation is complex. Singapore must maintain an open, stable, rules-based and predictable environment, so that small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can have the confidence to venture out and go far. MP Lee Hong Chuang made these statements in parliament on Friday (Feb 27). He also wanted to know where Singapore’s relations with other ASEAN nations stand currently, and suggested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs proactively help SMEs to understand and interpret complex European Union rules.
