Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Liang Eng Hwa on evolving post-Cold War world order
“The post-Cold War order that many of us grew up with is fading before our eyes.” MP Liang Eng Hwa said this in parliament on Friday (Feb 27), noting the rise of multipolarity, sharper strategic rivalry, fragmentation of supply chains and weakening confidence in multilateral institutions in today’s world. He also said that trade, technology and finance are increasingly instruments of geopolitical competition, and he wanted to know the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' latest take on the evolving post-Cold War order as well as its implications for Singapore.
