Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 2: Neo Kok Beng on technology diplomacy

02:37 Min

Technology can be a “soft power”, but how can it be utilised for the benefit of Singapore, the surrounding countries and even for the world? NMP Neo Kok Beng asked this question in parliament on Friday (Feb 27). He wanted to know if the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would consider technology as a strategic tool in Singapore’s foreign policy, and if it would upgrade it and push it as a soft power. He also wanted to know if technology training centres will be upgraded on a national scale, rather than on an ad-hoc basis.
