Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: Rachel Ong on equitable access to AI skills
As Singapore builds on AI capabilities, it must ensure that inclusion keeps pace, especially for persons with disabilities, so that new divides are not created, said MP Rachel Ong in parliament on Monday (Mar 2). She noted that training providers supported under the national AI initiatives should incorporate reasonable accommodations such as screen-reader compatible materials, captioning or sign language interpretation where needed, and accessible training venues. She also asked the Education Minister to clarify what requirements are in place to ensure such accommodations are consistently provided.
