Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Dinesh Vasu Dash on enhancing workplace safety and health

28:21 Min

As the nature of work evolves and Singapore’s workforce becomes more diverse, new challenges arise for workplace safety and health, said Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash. He announced the launch of the Alliance for Action on Safety and Health for Employment Longevity (AfA-SHEL) in the second half of 2026. It will focus on preventing workplace injuries, supporting those returning to work after an injury or health episode, and making workplaces safer for a changing workforce made up of people with various physical and health needs. This could include better leveraging technology, he said. In parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3), he also spoke on tripartite efforts to uplift lower-wage workers and improve support for migrant workers, such as by expanding recreation options for them.
