Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Lee Hui Ying on achieving Singapore's food security goals

02:06 Min

Singapore faces a global environment where supply chains are increasingly vulnerable to disruption. In this context, strengthening the nation’s local food capabilities is not just an economic ambition, it is a strategic necessity for survival. MP Lee Hui Ying said this in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3). She posed three questions to the Sustainability and the Environment Minister, including how the ministry will further support Singapore’s existing local food producers to succeed, in spite of high cost. She also asked if there are plans to help them access better financing or technology to ensure both survival and the ability to scale.
