Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Alex Yeo on preventive healthcare in the community
The concern of living long but not well is real, said MP Alex Yeo in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4). He highlighted that preventive healthcare is vital to help seniors reduce years of bad health and increase their quality of life in retirement, and noted that the Healthier SG programme was launched to address this. However, he advocated for the Ministry of Health to do more and expand the range of preventive healthcare for seniors. He also addressed two areas related to the Healthier SG programme, and sought an update from the Health Minister on the progress in including care protocols for dementia and osteoporosis under the programme, as well as the status of the roll-out of Healthier SG care protocols for major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder.
