Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Goh Hanyan on shared stake in climate adaptation
Everyone has a stake in how Singapore adapts to climate change and a part to play in preparing early and acting together - from coast to floods to community action, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment Goh Hanyan. As climate risks grow, Singapore needs more focused action and will support more ground-up efforts by expanding the SG Eco Fund. From May, the government will commit up to S$5 million over two years to fund projects that raise awareness and inspire action on climate adaptation topics. These include heat resilience, flood protection, water conservation and supporting local produce. Support for project costs will increase from 80 per cent to 90 per cent. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), Ms Goh stressed the need for everyone to make a difference and turn ideas into reality.
