Singapore will become a super-aged society this year and one in two persons who are healthy at 65 are expected to develop severe disability at some point in their lifetime. This means that many Singaporeans will become caregivers at some point, said MP Ng Chee Meng in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), where he provided some suggestions on how the government can refresh its Caregiver Support Action Plan in the next bound. He also wanted to know what are the critical gaps in accessibility, affordability and quality of eldercare services that middle-income families continue to face, and if the Ministry of Health has plans to address these gaps.
