Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 6: Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik on leaving a lasting legacy with Wakaf Masyarakat Singapura

03:05 Min

Since its launch on 3 August 2024, only 150 Muslims have designated Wakaf Masyarakat Singapura (WMS) as a beneficiary in their Wills or nominations. This represents only 0.1 per cent of Muslims aged over 60 and just a small fraction of Singapore’s entire Muslim community. The government needs to examine this figure more closely. MP Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik said this in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5). Noting that WMS funds are expected to be channelled to support social programmes, education and youth development, he urged Muslim families to consider WMS in their legacy planning.
