21:17 Min

The government will work to spark, spur and strengthen the “we first" spirit. Firstly, it will create common spaces through the country’s heritage. The National Heritage Board will partner residents and stakeholders to co-create programmes celebrating their neighbourhoods. These include uncovering gems and stories in Telok Blangah and celebrating public housing, architecture, religious sites and heritage businesses in Tiong Bahru. To enhance and protect the historic districts, the government will establish a Placemaking Project Office; it will work closely with stakeholders like associations in Little India and Chinatown. Secondly, the government will spur active citizenry to ensure that good ideas are turned into actions. Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling, who highlighted these key thrusts in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5), said her ministry will continue to partner Singaporeans to create the conditions for the “we first” spirit to grow and shape a Singapore that is “strong and resilient, and stronger together”.
