Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 6: Masagos Zulkifli on supporting all families through life

Better outcomes, better opportunities and better lives - this is what drives the work of the Ministry of Social and Family Development. It is making progress with its partners across the social service sector and has made strides in nurturing resilient people, strong families and a caring society. Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli shared this assessment in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5) and pledged to press on to make Singapore a “great place for all families”. He highlighted four core principles. Firstly, family-centricity - ensuring strong family relationships for sustainable change, especially for children, ComLink+ families, persons with disabilities and caregivers. The second principle is proactive and upstream intervention - to provide early support to build strong foundations and address root causes. Thirdly, focus on the strengths of clients to achieve good outcomes. Lastly, work with whole-of-society to weave a strong ecosystem of support.
