Debate on President’s speech: Hazlina Abdul Halim on a united and resilient Singapore
In parliament on Friday (Sep 26), MP Hazlina Abdul Halim spoke in all four of Singapore’s official languages - English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil - as she delivered her maiden speech in the House. She said a people’s strength is in their unity and Singapore’s success must not only be measured by economic sustainability but also family and community stability. She called for more comprehensive support for families and seniors. She also said Singapore must be a place where the young feel that they matter and belong, where they can discover themselves and persevere when they fail.
