Debate on President’s speech: Henry Kwek on building Singapore as a civilisational state

14:09 Min

Singapore is quietly emerging as a civilisational state - small on the map but large in mind and spirit - and should build on this new source of strength, said MP Henry Kwek. Speaking in parliament on Thursday (Sep 25), he said it should set its compass, build its institutions and live its culture. He said to tap on this strength, Singapore should do four things - tell the Singapore story better, harness technology disruption to transform job disruption into opportunity, keep life affordable and expand the country’s capacity for care.
