Debate on President’s speech: Koh Poh Koon on tripartism and the spirit of a ‘we first’ mindset

Singapore’s success rests not just on policies or programmes, but on shared trust and unity, Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon told parliament on Tuesday (Sep 23). He added that tripartism is key to building a "we first" society in Singapore where, unlike many other countries, workers and employers “sit on the same side, seeking win-win outcomes” for the nation. Dr Koh said this has allowed Singapore to uplift wages, strengthen worker protections and grow businesses all at once. He elaborated on the focus areas for his ministry in the coming term of Government - empowering Singaporeans to navigate the future of work, supporting career longevity, expanding opportunities for workers and businesses, and ensuring inclusive growth.
