Denise Phua on National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Bill
The National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Bill is an important step forward in how Singapore supports and governs its social service sector, said MP Denise Phua. It strengthens coordination, builds capability and enables a more data-informed system that seeks to leave fewer people behind, she added. Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13), she stressed the need to preserve the diversity, humanity and community-driven spirit and innovation that give the sector strength. She also sought clarifications on governance and innovation, proportionate compliance and reporting, and managing overlaps and identifying system gaps.
