Denise Phua on SkillsFuture Singapore Agency and Skills Development Levy amendment bills
With the rapidly expanding adult education and training market, there has been increasingly elaborate abuse of SkillsFuture funding, MP Denise Phua said in Parliament on Monday (Jan 9). She asked if proposed penalties are commensurate with the offence, where gains could potentially be in the millions of dollars. On false or misleading advertisements, Ms Phua wanted to know if rules or guidelines could be provided on the dos and don'ts of marketing, and if there is a whitelist of courses and information that prospective trainees can refer to. On a broader long-term scale, Ms Phua urged SkillsFuture Singapore to strengthen self-monitoring for better governance and review its strategies for greater impact.
