Desmond Lee on calibrated and purposeful approach to early AI use in education
The Ministry of Education (MOE) wants to develop AI literacy in students in a calibrated and purposeful way, informed by the learning sciences, emerging research and studies and ongoing exchanges with various countries. Technology, including AI, is used only when it supports educational objectives and student development. Education Minister Desmond Lee, who said this in reply to parliamentary questions on Wednesday (May 6), stressed that the approach is a dynamic one. MOE will continue to calibrate and adjust its approach, as well as ensure that it is balanced, age-appropriate and applied purposefully to support students’ learning and development, he added.
