Desmond Lee on 'learning journey' in conservation of Golden Mile Complex
There is still a "learning journey" ahead in the conservation of Golden Mile Complex, said National Development Minister Desmond Lee. Speaking in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4), he said even after its conservation, there is the work of exploring viable and adaptive reuse outcomes for the building. Mr Lee said that in the search for a meaningful new use, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will engage stakeholders each step of the way. As URA continues to study other modern buildings of heritage significance, it will take a systematic, calibrated and consultative approach. This way, through both conservation and redevelopment, it can "steward" limited land to meet the needs and aspirations of Singaporeans, said Mr Lee.
