Edwin Tong on strengthening Hindu Endowments Board's safekeeping of temples' ceremonial jewellery

The Hindu Endowments Board (HEB) conducted routine audits for all four of its temple endowments to ensure that ceremonial jewellery is properly accounted for. It has undertaken a review following the case involving the alleged misappropriation and pawning of ceremonial jewellery. No other irregularities were found. Culture, Community and Youth Minister Edwin Tong gave this update in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), in reply to an MP's question. He said HEB has worked closely with the Commissioner of Charities to ensure the proper safekeeping and management of gold items.
