EU battling surge in drug trafficking as cartels shift routes

04:21 Min

The European Union is battling a surge in drug trafficking and drug-related crimes. Changing habits of international drug cartels and shifting global market forces have meant the violence is starting to spread to the capital of the EU. In 2021 alone, law enforcement officials seized a record 303 tonnes of cocaine at Europe's ports. The EU will soon launch a new drugs agency to help inform and coordinate police efforts across the continent. Alex Cadier reports from Brussels.
