The impact of false information on the internet has led to an erosion of trust across Asia - home to some of the largest and fastest-growing online communities in the world – with the region accounting for the majority of social media users in the world. 

We investigate the reasons why 60% of Indians and 58% of Filipinos been exposed to a web of lies and disinformation, the highest percentages in the world?

With the volume of false information online set to grow further and delivery mechanisms likely to change as technology evolves, we traverse India and the Philippines to understand the ecosystems that have polarised societies, exacerbate ethnic conflicts, heighten religious differences, manipulating election results and triggering public fear, agitation, and violence.
