Fadli Fawzi on Land Transport and Related Matters (No. 2) Bill
As Singapore tightens safety standards, it must ensure that the requirements do not inadvertently place an unsustainable financial burden on ordinary Singaporeans, said MP Fadli Fawz. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7), he stressed the need to ensure that the costs of regulatory compliance are not passed down to end users. He pointed out lower-income Singaporeans rely on active mobility devices to earn a living. He urged the government to keep the costs of regulatory compliance manageable and send a clear message to retailers not to take this regulatory shift as an opportunity to inflate prices or profiteer.
