Firms with outdoor workers stepping up efforts to educate workers on heat stress

Singapore's first large-scale research on the impact of heat stress surveyed 34,000 people and firms across 42 industries. The need to cool down is heating up, especially for industries exposed to the elements, such as the construction and aquaculture sectors. Six in 10 construction workers surveyed in Project HeatSafe said they felt fatigued due to heat stress. Nearly two in five complained of headaches brought on by prolonged heat exposure. Firms have stepped up efforts to educate workers on heat stress and ensure they have what they need to cool down. Marcus Tan reports.
