France's Macron on three-day China trip, set to discuss trade and Russia-Ukraine war with Xi

French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Beijing for a three-day state visit. He will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People tomorrow. On the top of Mr Macron's agenda: Pushing Beijing to help secure a ceasefire in Ukraine, as well as pressing for fairer economic and trade relations. This, as Europe seeks to balance ties with China on the economic and security front. The EU has just released plans aimed at ending its reliance on Chinese rare earths.
