Gan Kim Yong on moving towards a low-carbon society
Singapore is seeking to capture opportunities in green growth, transform industries to integrate sustainability into their business models and ensure workers have the skills to benefit from the green economy. Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong outlined some strategies in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12) in his response to a motion brought by six MPs. The plans include developing standards and accreditation to help companies show their sustainability credentials and helping firms access opportunities abroad through Green Economy Agreements, the first of which is being negotiated with Australia. A career conversion programme for sustainability professionals is also being developed.
