Gan Siow Huang on foreign domestic worker levy
The foreign worker levy is a pricing mechanism to regulate the number of migrant workers in Singapore so that their employment is commensurate with need. Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang said this in parliament on Tuesday (Apr 8) in response to an MP's question on whether the levy could be cut for all households with at least one Singapore citizen as a measure to reduce cost of living.
