Gan Siow Huang on foster parents’ access to a child’s education information
Schools work with the relevant Government agencies and foster parents to share all relevant education information about a child or young person in foster care, including information available on the Parents' Gateway app. Where possible, foster parents are given access to all such information through the app, but in some cases, such information will be relayed through other means including meetings, e-mails or hardcopy letters. There may be a need for sensitivity because when foster parents are given access to the app, the child’s birth parents will have access to the foster parents’ identities. Minister of State for Education Gan Siow Huang said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 16) in response to a Member’s question.
