Can the authorities continue to explore ways to curb the incidence of littering from public corridors and stairwells? MP Gan Thiam Poh, who asked this question in Parliament on Monday (Feb 6), suggested allowing flat owners to install netting outside their windows to reduce the chances of random throwing, especially by those with mental or psychological problems. He also urged the National Environment Agency to investigate and penalise those who leave rubbish along the public corridors and in the common areas, as well as contractors and homeowners who dump debris in public areas, especially in newly completed HDB blocks.
