GE2025: Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen to retire from politics after 24 years

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen will retire from politics after more than 20 years. At a news conference to unveil the ruling People's Action Party's slate for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Marymount SMC, he said he will not be contesting in the upcoming General Election. A surgical oncologist by training, Dr Ng entered politics in 2001. He previously held Cabinet positions in the education and manpower ministries. He is Singapore's longest-serving defence minister, helming the ministry for 14 years. Jeraldine Yap reports.
