GE2025: People's Action Party - Party Political Broadcast, Apr 25 | Video
Who will form Singapore’s next government is “an existential question”, said Prime Minister and People’s Action Party Secretary-General Lawrence Wong. Speaking in the PAP’s first party political broadcast of GE2025 on Friday (Apr 25), Mr Wong said it is not just about politics; it is whether Singapore can find a way forward to survive in a changed world.
He reminded voters that the election comes at a time when the external conditions that have underpinned Singapore’s survival, security and success for decades are “coming apart”. Even as the PAP government helps Singaporeans cope with the immediate economic concerns, he said, it will always plan for and prepare Singaporeans for the future.
Mr Wong gave the assurance that the PAP will continue to focus on the issues that matter most to Singaporeans, such as housing, healthcare, education and jobs. He said the party delivers on its promises, but to keep doing so, it must renew its team to combine experience with individuals who will form a new generation of leaders.
Mr Wong said there is a role for a constructive and responsible opposition in Singapore. However, he said after the election, the contest will not be the PAP versus the opposition, but Singapore versus the world – and he urged voters to equip themselves with the best team for this changed and challenging world. He said Singaporeans can count on the PAP to steer the country safely through another period of turbulence, just as it did during the 2008 global financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
