GE2025: Red Dot United - Party Political Broadcast, Apr 25 | Video

04:51 Min

Red Dot United wants to build a new social compact in Singapore so that all Singaporeans can be treated as “first-class citizens”, said Secretary-General Ravi Philemon. Speaking in a GE2025 party political broadcast on Friday (Apr 25), he proposed rolling GST back to seven per cent, as well as a “citizen’s dividend” – a direct, unconditional payout to Singaporeans. The money to fund this will not come from the national reserves, he said, but from surpluses, cutting government waste and taxes on the wealthy.

On housing, Mr Philemon wants every HDB estate to be made eligible for redevelopment, introduction of rent-to-own schemes and more public rental housing, especially for young singles and low-income families. He also said long waiting times and high out-of-pocket costs in healthcare must be addressed, and called for more transparency on data and information so that Singaporeans can contribute to solving national problems.
