GE2025: Singapore Democratic Party - Party Political Broadcast, Apr 25 | Video

03:52 Min

The Singapore Democratic Party has pledged to lower the cost of living in Singapore and protect jobs for Singaporeans. SDP candidate for Sembawang GRC Alfred Tan outlined its plans in a GE2025 party political broadcast on Friday (Apr 25). He said SDP will push to cut GST to as low as five per cent and scrap it for everyday essentials. It aims to make homes affordable for all, with a "non-open market scheme" for BTO flats that cuts out land costs. It also intends to reduce medical expenses.

When it comes to jobs, Mr Tan said SDP proposes to reduce the influx of foreign PMETs to ensure job security and wider opportunities for Singaporeans. It is also suggesting a minimum wage act to make wages reflect the true cost of living, and calling for more support for mental health.
