GE2025: Workers' Party - Party Political Broadcast, Apr 25 | Video

05:11 Min

A democratic society requires hard work to establish and maintain, and it is important for Singapore’s democracy that the Workers’ Party win more constituencies, said WP Secretary-General Pritam Singh in a GE2025 party political broadcast on Friday (Apr 25). He said with more WP constituencies comes a higher chance that parliament will continue to have a fully elected democratic opposition presence for the longer term, making Singapore’s political system stable and sustainable.

Mr Singh said that in parliament, WP asks difficult questions which are necessary in the public interest and does not have to “toe the PAP’s line” when it votes. However, when it is right to do so, the party supports government bills and Constitutional amendments, he said.

Mr Singh added that WP runs town councils “as well as the PAP does” and will tap its decades of town council experience to serve both its current and new constituencies.
